JEWSE

The Jewish engineering community

at UC Berkeley

Mission

JEWSE of the University of California, Berkeley is determined to motivate its members to reach their full potential as engineers and leaders, to provide a venue for Jewish engineering students to embrace their religion, culture, and heritage, and to help these students immerse themselves in the values and lessons contained therein. This multi-faceted mission will seek to create well-rounded engineering leaders who will also be the Jewish community leaders of tomorrow.

We will apply Jewish values to influence our actions in professional and personal dealings, enhancing our integrity, morality, virtue, and honor. These Jewish morals will be ever-present in our activities, which will include networking, professional development, group interaction, and community outreach. While the organization will embrace Jewish values, customs, and traditions, and will explore how they apply to the field of engineering, it will be open to all students, regardless of faith or major.

History and Motivation

Jews in Engineering (JEWSE) was founded in Berkeley, California in 2010 by a group of dedicated engineering students focused on benefitting society by advancing the fields of engineering, while embracing the tenets of Judaism. Our objective is to form a national organization of professional engineers who will serve as role models in the Jewish and engineering communities, and to create a forum through which members of these communities can interact with each other.
